Day 3

On the third day of the ice storm there was a break in the storm. CMP recruits went out to start their twenty hour day. Repairing power lines, fixing the poles, and toughing out the cold. They worked their hardest without a break. As soon as one line was fixed another fell down and even an hour later the same line could fall down again.
Also carbon monoxide poisoning kills Martin McClusky in his home in Waterville. Martin’s wife Glady McClusky was moved to the Maine General Medical Center to get treated for carbon monoxide poisoning. She was put into a special room full of oxygen to filter the carbon monoxide out of her blood stream. The Oulette family shares a generator with family, friends, and neighbors. They would sit at the table drinking coffee and sharing stories. They had the living room closed off with a blanket to keep in heat. The generator was outside of the garage so that the carbon monoxide would not get into the house. Overall they had a very good time getting closer.
That’s what happened on the third day of the ice storm of ’98. Through tragedy, hard work, and getting closer that’s what happened on day 3.
