In the 1850s, the company of Prescott & Fuller Iron Foundry was formed on Milliken’s Crossing, in Hallowell, Maine. The founder was Mr. J.P. Flagg, and the owner was George Fuller who also owned Machinists Manufacturers.
It was a large part of Hallowell's history because everyone relied on it for their iron needs. They produced iron and brass casting, shafting, hangers, and pulleys. These products were recognized as being average quality, for they weren't the best or the worst.

In 1878, Mr. George Fuller was given exclusive control of the company, and the name was changed to “George Fuller and Sons."
The thirty men that were employed in this industry had had experience with iron before because Mr. Fuller believed that in all departments they should attempt excellence. It closed because there were new machines that took over to make the iron parts.
