Many years ago, the fire department raised money by sponsoring the annual World of Mirth carnival and firemen’s musters. The Hallowell Union Fire Club helped the community put fires out, making it a safer place to live and was a great organization. As for the musters and carnival, they were major forms of entertainment for the people in Hallowell.
